Image
1) Find a film clip on YouTube that uses sound in an interesting way. Analyse the use of sound, making sure you use the key language we have learned about sound in film: Diegetic and non-diegetic sound Parallel and contrapuntal sound Sound bridges Remember to discuss/analyse all the different types of sound present in the clip: Music Dialogue Voiceover Sound effect  In the "Home Comes to Them" scene from Dunkirk (2017), dialogue, voiceover, and sound effects are carefully utilized, contributing to the emotional impact and tension of the scene.    1. Diegetic Sound: Dialogue: The dialogue in this scene is scarce  but impactful. The soldiers, many of them exhausted and defeated, have minimal conversation. This lack of dialogue emphasizes the overwhelming sense of isolation and hopelessness. When spoken, dialogue is often scare and  reflecting the soldiers’ anxiety and exhaustion. For example, one soldier may briefly ask, "Where are the ships?" which captures their...

Sound video feedback and learner response'

  1) Type up your feedback from your teacher. WWW: Opening is so creepy-it works perfectly! I had visceral reaction to the opening due to the contrapuntal element which shows you have me the brief perfectly. The switch in change of colour and (lighting) signal the switch  to parallel  sound  very clearly  which shows you have  met brief exactly as specified  great choice  of music  track . EBI: perhaps both halves of the montage could have  had videos  of different  shots but this is difficult to fault. 2) Type up your feedback from fellow students - you can summarise key points if several students give you similar feedback. WWW:  The  music was parallel to the 2nd  part plus contrapuntal to the start Eerie music had the atmosphere already set up and  established  so the audience could anticipate  when the 'scary part' was coming EBI:   the sound  cut out before the video ended....

Blog feedback and response

BARROW, Sheldon Full Name Film poster analysis Mise-en-scene blog tasks Mise-en-scene video recreation Mise-en-scene video & LR Blog feedback and LR BARROW, Sheldon   WWW: Overall this is a really positive start in Media building on the work you’ve done at GCSE. In terms of the mise-en-scene recreation, it’s brilliant that you’ve gone out and filmed and edited a sequence and you’ve captured lots of elements of the scene well. I also like the image/clips you’ve chosen for the mise-en-scene analysis tasks.   EBI: For the mise-en-scene recreation you need to upload to YouTube and then add it to your blog. This is delayed due to the permissions issue we have but you also don’t have any planning uploaded for the mise-en-scene recreation which should be on your blog (shot list etc.)   In terms of your analytical work, the key at A Level is to add real depth and detail to your analysis. Try and develop longer paragraphs when discussing the meanings created in scenes o...

Lighting blog tasks

Copy the images into your blog and answer the following questions for  each  image: Identify examples of  high  and  low-key  lighting. Say which depict  top ,  back  or  under lighting .    3, What  effects  are created by the lighting in each image?    1 low key lighting  is  used to create a mist of smoke. they use back lighting and to create a silhouette  2  low key lighting  as the complete darkness from the bottom of the image   and the underlighting help insinuate the idea of horror films.  3 high key lighting as it looks realistic and  the use of top lighting creates a glam on the character in the image.  4 high key  lighting  with  low key lighting to create shadows and male it realistic and underlighting. underlighting...

Mise-en-scene recreation: Learner response

Mise-en-scene recreation: Learner response 1) Type up your feedback from your teacher in full.  .Actor placement/movement/expression is a real strength  here for initial pushups, running and movement at top of the steps Costume also a strength-you've clearly thought about it  and matched the original well. A couple Ebi's - one is setting/ locations. Could you have used a gym or non residential setting  for the press ups? for the running, it would have been great to have  been great to have the camera moving alongside.  2) Type up a summary of the feedback you have had from the rest of the class - bullet points is fine. WWW:  the acting was extremely close to what rocky did and good camerawork the setting took place next to a river like the original scene  and good actor placement. the fell of/atmosphere self triumphant and you did your best recreate the scene as best as you could EBI: Location and the running   camera movement up ...
