Mise-en-scene blog tasks

1 ) Find a distinctive still image and write an analysis of the mise-en-scene. Use each of the aspects you've learned in the lesson.

costume: dark trench coat with glasses  creates an image of the genre.
lighting: the low key lighting of this image  creates a shine on Neo  indicating he is the main character
Actor placement: the  where  characters are standing show there importance  Neo is at the front  so he is the main character. Morpheus is behind him to signify he is his mentor/ guide.
setting; background is in a rainy city could connote to genre.

2) Find TWO film or TV extracts on YouTube from different genres (e.g. horror, sci-fi, costume drama). Embed them in your blogpost and write a comparison of the mise-en-scene in each.

https://youtu.be/iuslUzbJEaw?si=7yBEsFsJ0ymT91Ca-The matrix saving Morpheus lobby scene

https://youtu.be/4vcNnS9k884?si=14tGuahtokzChzVT - scary movie 2 opening scene where the priest arrives.

costume: the costume   are very similar for both scenes but are  used extremely differently. First all characters are wearing black   but they are wearing it for different reasons in the matrix  they are wearing black   and glasses which fits the  futuristic spy  feel  and the reason why they are wearing black  but for scary movie the priest wears black  for the exorcism which could signify the horror  genre.

Lighting: the green lighting  of  the matrix set the sci fi  and futuristic whereas in the   scary movies it's very dark to indicate the horror  feel.

setting: the setting in the matrix is very dystopian as it's a sci fi  film.whereas scary movie 2 is setting is a house  and the priest is there who  is meant to exorcise the  the girl.
